One license lets you run the plugin on a fixed number of live sites: 1 for Football Leagues Premium and Sports Leagues Premium, 2 for Sports API Hub and Tennis API Hub. Staging and local copies are free, but only when Freemius, our licensing partner, recognizes their address as non-production. Any other address uses one of your sites.
This page applies to every AnWP plugin sold through Freemius.
π― How many sites does my license cover?
It depends on the plugin. Every plan of a plugin (monthly, annual or lifetime) covers the same number of sites:
| Plugin | Live sites per license | Plans and prices |
|---|---|---|
| Football Leagues Premium | 1 | Football Leagues Premium page |
| Sports Leagues Premium | 1 | Sports Leagues Premium page |
| Sports API Hub | 2 | Sports API Hub page |
| Tennis API Hub | 2 | Tennis API Hub page |
Each plugin has its own license. A Sports API Hub key won’t activate Football Leagues Premium, and the other way round. If you run two of our plugins, you have two licenses and two keys.
Do staging and local sites count toward the limit?
Not if Freemius recognizes the address as a staging or local one. Those activations are free and don’t use up a site. An address Freemius doesn’t recognize counts as a live site, even if you only use it for testing.
These are the addresses Freemius treats as non-production (Freemius SDK 2.13.5):
| The address… | Examples |
|---|---|
contains localhost or 127.0.0.1 | localhost:8080, 127.0.0.1/mysite |
starts with local., dev., test., stage. or staging | staging.yoursite.com, dev.yoursite.com, staging2.yoursite.com |
ends with .local, .test, .dev, .staging, .example or .invalid | yoursite.local, yoursite.test |
| is a staging address on a known host | WP Engine (.wpengine.com, .wpenginepowered.com), Kinsta (stg-, staging- or env- on .kinsta.com / .kinsta.cloud), Pantheon (dev- / test- on .pantheonsite.io), Cloudways (.cloudwaysapps.com), Pressable (.mystagingwebsite.com), GoDaddy (.myftpupload.com), WPMU DEV (.tempurl.host, .wpmudev.host), 10Web (-dev.10web.site, -dev.10web.cloud), InstaWP (.instawp.co, .instawp.link, .instawp.xyz), WebsitePro (.websitepro-staging.com, .websitepro.hosting), .wpsandbox.pro, .ngrok.io, .dev.cc |
These look like staging, but they count as live sites
stage2.yoursite.com, beta.yoursite.com, yoursite.ddev.site, new.yoursite.com or a copy on a temporary domain. None of them match the list, so each one uses one of your site activations.
Want a free staging copy? Call it staging.yoursite.com, or use a .local or .test domain on your computer. Freemius makes the final call on its server when you activate, so the list can change with later Freemius releases.
What counts as one site?
One WordPress install at one address. The license is tied to the address, so moving a site to a new domain means activating it there and freeing the old one. See Move a License to Another Site.
If you copy a live site to a new address, the plugin notices the copy and asks what it is: a temporary duplicate, the site’s new home, or a separate new site. Only the last answer uses another activation. The three choices are explained in License Won’t Activate.
How does a multisite network count?
The license is activated site by site. When you network-activate the plugin, the activation screen lets you activate the license on all sites in the network or only on the ones you pick. Afterwards, open Websites in the Freemius Customer Portal to see which sites use the license. Running a network with more sites than your license covers? Contact support for your plugin before you activate.
What does an active license include?
While the license is active you get the premium features, plugin updates from your WordPress dashboard, and email support. What happens after it ends depends on the plan:
| Plan | Runs for | When it ends |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 1 month, renews automatically | Premium features stop until you renew |
| Annual | 1 year, renews automatically | The plugin keeps working, but updates and support stop |
| Lifetime | Forever | Never ends |
Details are on What Happens When a License Expires.
Where can I see which sites use my license?
In the Freemius Customer Portal. Sign in at users.freemius.com with the email you bought with, then open Websites. Each site shows the license it uses, and you can deactivate one from there without logging in to that site.
